Thiruvananthapuram: A Federal Bank ATM caught fire due to short-circuit at Alamcode on Sunday morning.
The timely intervention of locals and fire and rescue officers helped extinguish the fire soon and thus avert a major tragedy.
The police said there was no major damage occurred in the fire except some minor issues to the AC. The fire spread to the counter due to a short-circuit in the AC.
The fire was first noticed by people who were there for a morning walk. They attempted to douse the fire until the fire force unit reached the spot.
In minutes the fire was brought under control by the team.
The police examined the CCTV footage to find the reason for the fire and found that the fire first started at the AC due to a short circuit. It soon spread to the kiosk.
The police have not registered any case yet as they have not received any complaint from the authorities concerned.
