Marisa Fernandes Appointed GM of Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti

(02/03/23)  The Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti has promoted Marisa Fernandes to the position of General Manager.

Marisa joined the luxury hotel in Tanzania in September 2021 as Resort Manager, and has now become the property's first female General Manager since it opened in 2012.

Marisa oversees all operations of the 77-unit lodge, which includes 12 Terrace Suites with plunge pools and five free-standing pool villas, all with views of the fascinating Serengeti landscape.

Marisa's love for the hospitality industry started when she became an intern at a hotel in her hometown of Lamego, Portugal after getting a degree in International Relations and Communications Law from the Universidade Lusíada de Lisboa.

Before joining Four Seasons in 2021, Marisa spent almost sevens years working at different hotels under the prestigious Six Senses brand, including time at the Six Senses Douro Valley in Portugal, two different stints at the Six Senses Con Dao in Vietnam - the second of which was her first GM posting, and just over a year at the Six Senses Bhutan.

“As a hospitality leader, your success is not defined by you, it is defined by your team and therefore knowing how to develop them to the best of their potential is one of the most important skills you could have. And, just as importantly, one of the most rewarding,” Marisa said. “Our property is unique, staffed by predominantly local, passionate talent, which I hope to see developing further. As I was inspired in my first internship that set me on the path to where I am today, my goal is to inspire, nurture and guide my successors in beautiful Tanzania."
