Prosecutor: Forest Park serial rape suspect charged in 3 attacks. More victims possible
Prosecutors say a Forest Park man sexually assaulted two women last month − one worked for a cab service and one was providing rides on her own − and tried to attack a third.
None of the women knew him, court documents say.
The first attack connected to 26-year-old Rodolfo Castillo happened on Feb. 12, court documents say.
According to prosecutors, Castillo contacted a taxi service and specifically asked for a female driver to pick up a female passenger at an apartment complex at 1440 W. Kemper Road in Forest Park.
When the driver arrived, it was Castillo who got into the vehicle and directed her to drive behind an apartment building, according to prosecutors. Once there, prosecutors say, Castillo "stuck a large screwdriver" into the woman's ribs and forced her into the back seat of the vehicle while threatening to kill her.
According to prosecutors: Castillo tied the woman's hands and feet, and forced her to the vehicle's floor. After driving to a bank and withdrawing money from the woman's bank account, Castillo then drove to a secluded parking lot and forced the woman to perform a sex act.
Prosecutors say Castillo then drove the woman to a gas station, allowed her to leave and said he would kill her if she told police.
On Feb. 14, prosecutors say Castillo approached a woman as she was leaving the Kroger store in Woodlawn and offered her a ride, which she accepted. As they were driving, prosecutors say Castillo took the woman's cellphone, punched her several times and threatened to rape and kill her.
At a traffic light, according to court documents, the woman was able to open the car door and get out. A bystander helped her and called police.
Two days later, a woman who was providing rides privately picked up Castillo at the 1440 W. Kemper Road apartment complex. Prosecutors say he held a knife to the woman's ribs and eventually tied her hands and feet. Castillo drove the woman to a dark parking lot and sexually assaulted her, prosecutor say.
Castillo's address is listed in court documents as an apartment at 1440 W. Kemper Road.
'Every woman's worst nightmare'
Because of the alleged predatory behavior, authorities are concerned there might be more victims.
"This is every woman's worst nightmare," Hamilton County Prosecutor Melissa Powers said in a statement. "I can’t imagine the terror these women went through. The courage it takes to survive something like this cannot be overstated."
Castillo, 26, has been indicted in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court on multiple counts, including rape, attempted rape, kidnapping and armed robbery.
His attorney, James Bogen, said he is still gathering information about the case.
"There's going to be a lot to go through," Bogen said, adding that he will examine everything, "see if there are any legal issues we can raise, and go from there."
