Shares of Laurus(up 2.92 per cent), Abbott India(up 2.05 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma(up 1.5 per cent), Granules India(up 1.4 per cent) and Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(up 1.13 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Glaxosmithkline Pharmaceuticals(down 2.21 per cent), Gland Pharma(down 0.34 per cent), Pfizer(down 0.25 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(down 0.17 per cent) and Divis Laboratories(down 0.13 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.22 per cent up at 11807.9.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 117.1 points at 17711.45, while the BSE Sensex stood up 415.49 points at 60224.46.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 37 ended in the green, while 12 closed in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, Tata Steel, Suzlon Energy, Vodafone Idea and PNB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of AVSL Industries, Mahanagar Gas, Ingersoll-Rand, Jindal Stainles and Chaman Lal Setia hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Vineet Laboratories Ltd., Future Consumer, Supreme Engineering, Bartronics and Sumeet Ind hit their fresh 52-week lows.
