HYDERABAD: Telangana Congress president A Revanth Reddy on Sunday accused chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao of not fulfilling his promise to develop the Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Devasthanam in Vemulawada as a major Hari Hara Kshetram in southern India.
"KCR had said his marriage was performed at this temple and promised its development. The temple is popularly known as Dakshin Kashi but its development has been neglected even after the formation of Telangana state," Revanth said during his padayatra.
He also slammed the KCR government for not doing anything to solve the water problem in Vemulawada.
"Ahead of 2018 Assembly election, the BRS (then TRS) laid the foundation stone for Suramma project, promising irrigation water to 43,000 acres. This was done with an eye to help Chennamaneni Ramesh win from this constituency. The project is still incomplete," Revanth said.
If people want to meet their local MLA, they need to go to Germany, he said, adding that Ramesh has spent more time in Germany than his constituency. He has no love for the people of his constituency and there are allegations that he holds German citizenship, Revanth said.
"If the Congress forms the next government, we will complete Suramma project in 18 months," Revanth said while addressing a street corner meeting in Vemulawada.
