NAGPUR: Today’s youth is losing optimism due to different challenges and reasons and appears to have been lost. But, Dr Abhay Bang’s book is a guide to life values for the young generation, said wellknown playwright and Sahitya Akademi Award winner professor Mahesh Elkunchwar. He released a Marathi book ‘Yaa Jeevanache Kaay Karu?’ (What should I do with this life?) by well-known social activist and founder of Shodhgram, Padma Shri Dr Abhay Bang on Sunday.
“The answer to the question ‘What should I do with this life?’ should be ‘Live it fully.’ However, one should live life in a way that benefits the world, with sincerity and authenticity. Living life with complete dedication is a form of meditation,” said Elkunchwar.
The playwright said the book meets the thoughts of Vinoba Bhave and Mahatma Gandhi. Praising Dr Bang’s quality writing, he said, “His style is straightforward and simple and the book will tempt one to read again and again.”
The event was organized at Kalidas auditorium of Persistent Systems by Rajhans Publications. Naresh Sabjiwale was present on behalf of the publishers while Suresh Pandharipande commented on the book as a “beautiful depiction of knowledge, action and devotion”.
“If we want to bring about change, then it should start from within ourselves, as this is evident on every page of this book. The book includes two articles on Vinoba Bhave. One discusses Gandhi’s ‘Satyagraha’ and the other discusses Vinoba’s methods of work after achieving Independence.
The book will help many dispel all doubts about their methodologies,” said Pandharipande.
Dr Bang said that the book is nothing but a conversation with today’s youths. “Due to the advancement of medical science, lifespan has increased. However, if there is no purpose to this extended lifespan, then life will be hell,” he said.
“I have tried to answer the question of how to make the most of this extended lifespan. Vinoba’s trinity of human nature, duty, and the duty towards the universe can help today’s youth,” said Dr Bang who had the privilege to study in schools started by Mahatma Gandhi in Sevagram and later work under the guidance of Vinoba Bhave in Paonar.
Amrit and Aarti Bang, Damayanti Pandharipande, Sameer Bendre of Persistent System, and others were present on the occasion.
