Exxon Mobil (NYSE:XOM) violated U.S. law for failing to take sufficient action as five hangman's nooses were found at its chemical complex in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission said in a lawsuit filed Thursday.
The EEOC said Exxon (XOM) failed to take sufficient action after a black employee found a noose at his work station at the Baton Rouge in January 2020.
At the time, it was the fourth noose discovered at the site, but Exxon (XOM) allegedly "investigated some, but not all, of the prior incidents and failed to take measures" to end the harassment which resulted in "a racially hostile work environment," according to the EEOC.
A fifth noose was found at the complex in December 2020, the agency said.
The odds of the narrative that oil will run to $140 and Exxon Mobil (XOM) will rise to $125 in 2023 are "getting longer and longer by the day," David Alton Clark writes in an analysis published recently on Seeking Alpha.
