A team of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team landed at the residence of former Bihar CM Rabri Devi in Patna on Monday morning. As per the reports, Rabri is being questioned by the central probe agency in connection with the land-for-jobs scam case. CBI at Rabri Devi's home because of family's strong opposition to BJP: Tejashwi Yadav
Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav on Monday claimed that the CBI team's visit to the residence of his mother and ex-CM Rabri Devi was a result of his family's "relentless opposition to the ruling BJP at the Centre". He also asserted that his father Lalu Prasad, who has been named in the land for jobs case, had "no powers" to provide employment in exchange of favours as the then railway minister.

The Congress on Monday condemned the questioning of former Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi by the CBI at her residence in Patna, alleging that the BJP wants to "suppress" the voice of the Opposition. A number of residents of Patna themselves or through their family members sold and gifted their land in the city in favour of the family members of Yadav and a private company controlled by Yadav and his family and they were also involved in transfer of such immovable properties.

The CBI has learnt in the probe that Rabri Devi and Hema Yadav were gifted land in connection with the scam by job seekers who were later appointed in railways. Haridayanand Chaudhary, a railway employee and Bhola Yadav, the then OSD to former former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav were earlier arrested by the CBI.
'Land was acquired at much lower prices than then circle rates'
The CBI had said that during the investigation, it has been found that the accused in conspiracy with the then GM Central Railways and CPO, Central Railways engaged persons as substitutes in lieu of land either in their name or in the name of their close relatives. This land was acquired at prices lower than the prevailing circle rate and much lower than the market rate.
Chargesheet has already been filed in CBI court
"We are doing further investigation in the matter," a CBI source said. The central probe agency has got the prosecution sanction against against former railway minister Lalu Prasad in the matter. In January, the agency furnished the prosecution sanction letter before the concerned court.
Reports say that CBI is questioning Rabri as the probe agency has received fresh inputs in connection to the case.
