JAISALMER: Two cases of suicide including that of a five-month pregnant woman were reported on Sunday in Barmer district. In the first case, a five-month pregnant woman in Vishnudham Nehadi village in Dhorimanna police station jumped into a water tank. Police have started investigation.
According to her family she was mentally unstable. Her parents have been informed and further action will be taken after their arrival.
According to Dhorimanna police, Padma Devi, aged 30, in the wee hours on Sunday jumped into a water tank around half a kilometre from her house. Her family searched for her and finally found her body in a water tank. Padma was married in 2013 and has two daughters. She was expecting her third child.
In another case a youth residing in a rented house committed suicide by hanging. People living in his neighbourhood informed the police. The incident is of Ramnagar Shivkar Road in Barmer city.
Police reached the spot and kept the body at the district hospital mortuary. The family members have given the report that the deceased was mentally unstable. A case of unnatural death was registered and the body was handed over to his family after post-mortem.
According to the police, Junjharam (30), was staying in a rented house in Barmer city for several years. He was working as a driver. He had a son and a daughter.
Locals told police that Junjharam had not visited the village to meet his family for last one month. Police said the statements of locals are being taken as part of further investigations.
