Speaking on rapidly increasing Cardiac arrest cases, Cardiologist at RML Hospital Tarun Kumar on March 06 clarified that new Influenza virus is not connected to heart problems. Adding further, he said that uncontrolled medical conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, weight gain, non-healthy lifestyle, smoking stress and increased inflation in people post-COVID can be reasons behind increase in number of Cardiac arrest patients. He said, “Earlier, Cardiac arrest patients used to be above 40 years of age. However, now patients in age group between 30-40 years are also been witnessed facing cardiac issues. Recently various videos went viral of people suddenly falling and dying which we call ‘Sudden Cardiac Death’ if the patient is not revived, and this is caused by Cardiac arrest only. The new Influenza virus might give some prolonged symptoms however it is not connected to heart ailments.”
