Two labourers arrested for attack on aged landlady in Dakshina Kannada

MANGALURU: The Subrahmanya police have arrested two persons who allegedly attempted to murder their landlady, in a bid to steal valuables from her on Thursday. The accused are Varadaraja,30, and Saijan PP,38.
According to police, complainant Gayathri,61, a resident of Karikkala in Pambetthadi village of Sullia, accused Varadaraja and Saijan PP, of attempting to murder her, in a bid to rob her valuables. The accused were working at her house for four months, and were staying in a shed adjacent to the house.
The incident took place when the victim was on the upper floor of the house on Thursday night. The accused threatened to kill her, and strangled her.
They demanded to know where she kept her valuables, but she told them that she had no valuables. On hearing the victim scream, domestic help Prema and neighbour Suresh rushed to her rescue. The accused caused two injuries to the victim’s neck.
The police said that the accused ventured into such an act, knowing that the complainant’s husband could not move around, and that she was alone in the house. She was treated at the Kadaba government hospital. The Subrahmanya police have registered a case under various IPC sections against the accused.
