Kanpur minor girl raped by 'Insta friend' in hookah bar

KANPUR: A 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her ‘Instagram friend’ in a hookah bar under Barra police area of the city.
Police said the accused had allegedly been sexually assaulting the girl for a long time and had been blackmailing her by threatening to post her obscene photographs and videos on social media.
The incident, which took place on March 3, came to light after the survivor’s family lodged the complaint with the local police on Sunday.
The girl’s father stated in his complaint that one Vinay Thakur of Jarauli called his minor daughter to meet him. “Later, he took her to a ‘hookah bar’ where he forced her to smoke hookah. Then he offered her soft drink laced with sedatives. When she was knocked out of her senses, Vinay raped my daughter,” the complainant said.
“The accused took my daughter to a deserted place where Vinay, his accomplices Ajay, Aman Sengar and five others tried to rape her again and assaulted her. When she resisted, Vinay bit on her cheek inflicting injuries on her face,” he said.
“She told us that Vinay Thakur, whom she met through Instagram, had been blackmailing her for a long time,” the girl’s father alleged.
DCP, South, Salman Taj Patil said, “An FIR has been lodged against five unknown persons and three named accused, Vinay Thakur, Ajay and Aman Sengar, under charges of rape, assault, and threatening to kill the girl. As the girl is minor, the accused have also been booked under the POCSO Act. Raids are underway to arrest the accused.”
