2 from gang of chain robbers get 10-yr RI

Thane: A special court of Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) Thane convicted two members of an Irani syndicate of chain snatchers and sentenced them to ten years rigorous imprisonment and also fined them Rs 5 lakh each. Those convicted include— Aziz Abbas aka Jaffar Sayyed aka Jaffri 20 and Jaffar Ajam Sayyed 28—both residents of Ambivali in Kalyan.
The special MCOCA judge AM Shete, in his order mentioned that there are other co-accused along with these two and since the other accused are absconding, the trial with these two accused has been separated by an order given in 2019. The prosecution told the court that on July 2, 2016 the accused duo were caught red handed as they attempted to snatch a chain and run away.
