Speaking on the side lines of the Panel Discussion during Raisina Dialogue 2023, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral R Hari Kumar said that Chinese are sailing in the Indian Ocean since 2008 till today, however, India has kept a close surveillance on all their activities.Speaking on achieving maritime security in the Indian Ocean, he said, “There is a lot of interaction, capacity building, exercises and training. All this leads to trust building and once there is trust, there is greater cooperation. That is how we achieve maritime security.”Talking about Chinese presence in Indian Ocean, Kumar said, “There is Chinese presence in the Indian Ocean since 2008 till today. There are lot of Chinese researches along with large number of fishing boats. We keep close surveillance on the activities in the Indian Ocean. That is our job.”
