Cop saves woman, child who fell while deboarding moving train in kanpur

KANPUR: The timely action by an alert head constable of the Government Railway Police (GRP) saved the life of a woman passenger and her child who slipped and fell while deboarding a moving train at the Kanpur Central railway station on Saturday.
The entire incident was captured in the CCTV cameras and later the footage of the same went viral on the social media.
GRP station in-charge RK Dwivedi told TOI that the name of the woman passenger is Rachna Srivastava. Her husband Vishal Srivastava lives in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior, he said.
To visit her brother-in-laws place in Unnao, the woman along with her two children reached Kanpur Central from Gwalior on Saturday, he said and added, “The incident had occurred when the empty rack of the Balamau Passenger train arrived at Kanpur Central's platform No. 1. Thinking that the train would go to Unnao, she boarded it with both her children.”
However, when the empty train started moving in the opposite direction, the woman got scared and first threw her elder child from the train, and then jumped with another child in her arms, the GRP in-charge further said and added, “The woman and her younger child both fell on the platform. Then her foot slipped and she started rolling towards the coach and the platform.”
GRP head constable Sheelendra Singh, who was on duty, and was also standing there saved her by immediately grabbing her hands and pulling her in an opposite direction, the GRP official said. The entire incident which has taken place at platform no. 1 in front of the GRP police station was captured on the CCTV camera.
“The GRP personnel have done a good job and will be rewarded,” the official further said. Later, the woman and other passengers thanked the GRP personnel for the timely intervention.
