Maharashtra: Former Lok Sabha Speaker Shivraj Patil’s cousin commits suicide, shoots himself in Latur
Hanmantrao Patil, lived close to the former minister’s Deoghar residence and used to visit frequently. The officer said that he was suffering from some disease for many years

A relative of former Union Minister Shivraj Patil Chakurkar allegedly committed suicide at his home in Maharashtra’s Latur. A police officer gave this information on Sunday.
The officer said that Chandrashekhar (81 years) was also known by the name Hanmantrao Patil shot himself with a licensed revolver at around 8.30 am on Sunday.
He was the cousin of former Lok Sabha Speaker Shivraj Patil Chakurkar. Hanmantrao Patil, lived close to the former minister’s Deoghar residence and used to visit frequently. The officer said that he was suffering from some disease for many years.
He further added that the minister’s son was present at the time of the incident and senior officers including Additional Superintendent of Police Dinesh Devre, Deputy Superintendent of Police Jitendra Jagdale and others are present at the spot in connection with the investigation.

Tamil Nadu: Fire breaks out in firecracker factory, 1 woman killed, several injured

A massive fire broke out in a firecracker factory in Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu on Sunday. The incident took place near Shivanarpuram village in the district. As soon as the information about the incident was received, the police and other officials of the district reached the spot and informed about the incident.
Giving information about the incident, Cuddalore District Collector K Balasubramaniam said that a woman has died in the accident. At the same time, another is seriously injured, as well as four people have also suffered burns, although their condition is stable. He also said that three other people also received injuries in the accident.

India protests against anti-India posters in Geneva, Swiss ambassador summoned
The Swiss ambassador has clarified his stand on the concerns of the Ministry of External Affairs and has said that he will take up the issue with the Swiss government.

India has lodged a strong protest against the issue of anti-India posters being put up in front of the United Nations building in Geneva. The Ambassador of Switzerland has also been summoned in this matter on Sunday.
According to official sources, the Swiss ambassador has clarified his stand on the concerns of the Ministry of External Affairs and has said that he will take up the issue with the Swiss government.
Officials said the Swiss ambassador, during a conversation with the Ministry of External Affairs, said that he did not in any way endorse the claims made in the posters in Geneva, nor did the posters reflect the position of the Swiss government.

Kerala Police search TV channel Asianet’s office days after SFI activists protest
Friday evening, some activists of Students Federation of India (SFI) allegedly forcibly entered the office of Malayalam news channel Asianet News in Kochi, Kerala and threatened the employees there.

Kerala Police searched the office of the Asianet news channel in Kozhikode. It is being said that this search took place two days after the demonstration by the members of the student wing of the ruling party.
Sharing a video on Twitter, Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar said about the police search, Pinarayi Vijayan government was pulled. The BJP leader has alleged that Chief Minister Vijayan is facing serious allegations of corruption. And they wanted to divert the attention of the people by using their goons of police and SFI.
Significantly, on Friday evening, some activists of Students Federation of India (SFI) allegedly forcibly entered the office of Malayalam news channel Asianet News in Kochi, Kerala and threatened the employees there.
According to the police, based on the channel’s complaint, a case was registered against around 30 activists of the ruling CPI(M)’s student wing SFI.
Police had said that according to the complaint, SFI workers allegedly barged into the channel’s office at around 8 pm while raising slogans against it and threatened the staff. Criticizing the act of SFI, the Press Club of India urged the Kerala government to investigate the incident.
