MUMBAI: While the HSC mathematics paper on Friday that was found circulating on social media in Buldhana district was not treated as a paper leak as it had been circulated after 10.30am, when students were inside their classrooms, at an examination centre in Dadar a student was found with the Maths question paper at 10.17am, 23 minutes before students were to be seated inside their exam halls.
The Shivaji Park police on Saturday registered a case of copying and malpractice in the HSC mathematics paper of the science stream, against four persons including three students and a person who is believed to be a teacher.
The matter, however, came to light after the paper ended at 2.10pm at the Dr Antonio Da Silva high school and junior college in Dadar. According to the complaint filed by the examination centre head, the supervisor of a class approached her after the paper that a student was caught with a cellphone inside the exam hall. Students are not allowed to carry their cell phones.
On examination of the cell phone, it was revealed that the student received portions of the question paper at 10.17am. He said the paper was shared with him by a friend, who had received it from another friend. The student of the Dadar centre had shared the question paper with a person at 10.21am--nine minutes before entering the exam hall. The answers were shared by the unidentified person with the student of the Dadar centre.
The case has been transferred to the crime branch and a team led by DCP Prashant Kadam and senior PI Ghanshyam Nair are probing the case. The crime branch will also get details of persons having the WhatsApp numbers, used in sending the question papers from one person to another.
