BENGALURU: The state government on Saturday increased the remuneration of contractual employees working under the National Health Mission by 15%. The hike will come into effect from April 1 this year.
The announcement comes in the backdrop of the agitation by contractual employees demanding a raise in remuneration. Earlier, health minister K Sudhakar had assured the agitating workers of holding discussions regarding their demand at the government level. "These employees have worked hard and their role is vital in increasing the efficiency of healthcare delivery systems. We've decided to increase their remuneration," Sudhakar said.
The 15% increase is applicable to those who were paid less than Rs 20,000 at the time of joining. The NHM medical officers (MBBS, Ayush, RBSK, dental surgeons) who have worked continuously for over five years will also get a 15% hike.
With regard to specialists, those with 3-5 years of service will get a 5% salary increase, while those who have served 5-10 years will get a 10% raise. Those who have served more than 10 years will get a 15% hike.
