Priest nabbed for drug peddling

Ludhiana: A priest at a shrine at Zira in Ferozepur was arrested by Sadar police on Friday night for drug peddling. Police also recovered 1 kg opium from his possession. The arrested accused has been identified as Satnam Singh, 42, a resident of Zira, Ferozepur and a priest at a gurdwara. Police said that the accused was caught at a checkpost at Thareeke chowk village with 1KG opium.“The accused said that he was a priest who did not earn well. He got in touch with a man who asked him to get opium from Jharkhand and sell it to a customer in Ludhiana. Satnam does not have a criminal record,” an official said. tnn
