HYDERABAD: Kukatpally police arrested a thief near Ramya grounds in KPHB phase III on Saturday morning, for stealing laptops from men's hostels, locked houses and stationary vehicles. Police recovered 50 stolen laptops, five cellphones, an
iPad and other electronic items worth 21.5 lakh from his possession.
M Setty Sathyanvesh, 27, was involved in 33 offences in the city and West Godavari district of AP, police said.
A native of Panduvva village in Undi mandal of West Godavari, Sathyanvesh is a habitual offender. While committing thefts in the city, the accused used to take shelter on footpaths near
Mahatma Gandhi bus station and Secunderabad railway station.
The accused disposes of stolen gadgets at throwaway prices and spends the money on vices, police said. The accused committed 13 offences in KPHB Colony, 10 offences in Gachibowli, seven in Kukatpally, two in Miyapur and one in Mogaltur in West Godavari in the past few months.
Police verified CCTV footage at different crime scenes to identify the accused, who has a criminal record.
