A proposal was sent to the state government in this regard ahead of the budget on March 9, said the official. While Rs2,000 crore has been sought from the state government, another Rs1,200 crore has been sought from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), he said. The total cost of land acquisition for the ring road is expected to be Rs10,471 crore.
The state recently allocated Rs3,500 crore to the MSRDC through a loan from the Housing and Urban Development Corporation (Hudco) to commence the land acquisition for the western phase of the ring road. Of it, the MSRDC had received Rs1,000 crore to commence the process, said another senior official of the corporation.
A total of 1,900 hectares will be acquired from 87 villages for the ring road. The land acquisition for the project will be carried out in two phases.
The ring road project has been divided into eastern and western zones. The eastern phase of the proposed ring road would pass through Maval and Kalewadi talukas of Pune district. The western stretch would be in Bhor, Haveli and Mulshi talukas.
The land acquisition process for the ring road's western phase has commenced. It is expected to be over by May. The land acquisition for the eastern phase will commence in July-August, after getting the funds, another MSRDC official said.
