10 special medical teams to be deployed for Attukal pongala festival in Thiruvananthapuram

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As many as 10 special medical teams, with ambulance services, will be deployed for Attukal pongala festival in the city. These teams will be deployed in different parts of the city from 5 am till the end of the ritual. Apart from this, control rooms of health and food safety departments will also be set up.
A medical team, including a doctor, staff nurse, nursing assistant and ambulance will be available at the temple from 7 am to 10 pm. Paediatricians and full-time staff nurses will also be present exclusively to attend children who take part in Kuthiyottam ritual. Apart from this, the services of the AYUSH department will also be made available.
Eight officers, including health inspectors, have been appointed to supervise the activities arranged. The government and private hospitals have been instructed to make necessary arrangements to meet any emergencies. Kaniv 108, the city corporation, district IMA and private hospitals, 35 ambulances will be deployed in various parts of the city.
