Patna police and district authorities have deployed additional magistrates and police personnel to prevent any untoward incident during Holi and Shab-e-Barat festivals in the city. Intense vehicle-checking drive has also been launched to nab people smuggling liquor in the dry state.
Patna DM Chandrashekhar Singh said since both the festivals will be celebrated the same day, senior police officers have been asked to keep special vigil at sensitive places and on antisocial elements. He instructed the officials concerned to keep social media monitoring cell active and quickly refute rumours. "Action will be taken against antisocial elements under sections 107 and 116 of the CrPC. There will be ban on playing of vulgar songs," he said.
Mobile teams have also been deputed in several areas and night police patrolling has been intensified in the city.
The DM has directed the SDOs and ASPs/SDPOs to organize a meeting of the peace committee. "For Holika Dahan, the height of the bonfire will be maintained so that the electric wires are not affected," he said.
The Patna police and the prohibition department have started special campaign against liquor smugglers. Instructions were given to destroy the seized liquor without delay and take action against drug addicts.
In Bhagalpur, DM Subrat Kumar Sen along with SSP Anand Kumar reviewed the law and order situation and directed the sub-divisional and block officials besides the SHOs of different police stations in the district to ensure social harmony in the areas under their respective jurisdictions during the festivities.
