Will talk to CM about clearing legacy waste at Sada dumpsite: Amonkar
The Mormugao MLA said he is aware of the hardship faced by the people due to the dump and hence want it to be cleared before the monsoon
Vasco: Stating that the legacy dump at the Mormugao Solid Waste Treatment Plant (MSWTP) is causing tremendous hardship to residents in the locality, Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar said that he will meet chief minister Pramod Sawant over the issue.
Amonkar said he will request Sawant to clear the dumps of waste at the plant operated by the Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) at Headland-Sada, prior to monsoon.
He was speaking to the media on the sidelines of launching hotmixing works of the internal roads in ward four at Headland-Sada on Friday.
“I am aware of the hardship faced by people due to the stink from the garbage dump. As the BJP government has taken up the initiative to clear the legacy waste across the state, I will request the chief minister to initiate immediate steps to treat and dispose of the waste dump,” stated Amonkar.
The MLA said that all the internal roads in Mormugao will be hotmixed. “The estimated cost of hotmixing the internal roads is around Rs 7 crore,” stated Amonkar.
Over his name’s omission from the plaque at the inauguration of a recent function to lay the foundation stones for two major developmental projects in Vasco, where urban development minister Vishwajit Rane was also present, Amonkar said, “I am more concerned about my works. I am not worried about my name not featuring on the plaque. I am happy that major developmental projects which were lacking in Vasco for the past several years have finally kicked-off.”
