Ludhiana: A 34-year-old carpenter was murdered allegedly by his colleagues at Gorsian Makkhan village of Sidhwan Bet on Thursday night.
The crime was a fallout of an old enmity between the victim — identified as
Ram Lakhan — and accused Harvinder Singh Bindri and Sandeep Singh Ghulla of Gorsian Makkhan.
Ram’s elder brother Raju Rai said his younger brother did not return till late night after which they started looking for him. When they reached the Taath Nanaksar road, they saw some people strangulating his brother and hitting him in his head with a brick. He said as they raised an alarm, the assailants ran away from the spot.
Raju alleged that he came to know that his brother was murdered by Harvinder Singh Bindri and Sandeep Singh Ghulla. All of them used to work together and they had quarrelled many times in the past.
Police officials said DSP Jagraon Satvinder Singh Virk and SHO Sidhwan Bet Sunil Kumar visited the spot and shifted the body to a government hospital for postmortem.
Police later booked the accused for murder.
DSP Satvinder Singh Virk said the accused were arrested on Friday. He said police had recovered the rope (used for strangulation) and brick (which was hit in the head).
Police officials said the accused told police that the deceased had a habit of using slangs, which had led to the fight.
Cops said Ram got married about two years back, but the couple had issues. His wife had left him and gone to her native place.
