Women's Day: PVR to re-release 'Chandni,' 'Raazi,' other feminist films
Catch your favorite female-driven films at PVR Cinemas on the upcoming Women's Day!

To commemorate the upcoming Women's Day (March 8), PVR Cinemas has decided to charm cinephiles uniquely. The multiplex has decided to re-release several popular female-led films such as Chandni, Gangubai Kathiawadi, English Vinglish, Everything Everywhere All at Once, and Raazi, among several others. These films will be released in the theaters as a part of PVR's Women's Day Film Festival. Here's more.

    Why does this story matter?

    • Re-releasing films to draw more crowds has caught speed in the last few months and has successfully brought the audiences back to the theaters.
    • For instance, during Valentine's Week last month, Tamasha, Jab We Met, Titanic, and DDLJ, among others made their way to the theaters again.
    • Amitabh Bachchan's and Dilip Kumar's films were also showcased on their birthday and birth anniversary, respectively.

PVR is focusing on 'iconic movies that showcase womanhood'

PVR Cinemas announced the offer on Friday. They tweeted, "PVR is celebrating #WomensDay with iconic movies that showcase the resolve of #womanhood. Relive the classic women-centric movies such as Raazi, Gangubai Kathiawadi, English Vinglish, and much more on the big screen with the PVR #WomensDayFilmFestival from 3rd to 7th March 2023." They also released a poster featuring the collage of the aforementioned flicks.

The prices differ in each city, but might be low

The prices will differ from city to city, as is the case normally, too. Digging into the website reveals that prices will possibly begin from Rs. 150 and can go up to Rs. 350, depending on the showtime and other factors. Films like Chandni and EEAAO are relatively priced lower and begin from Rs. 112. You can check all the rates on the website.

Why have these projects been selected?

The choice of these projects is unsurprising since these films have been lauded immensely for being led by a female actor. While Alia Bhatt's Raazi told the story of a spy, her Gangubai Kathiawadi, too, was based on true events. Sridevi's Chandni is a bonafide classic, while English Vinglish gave her a stellar comeback. EEAAO is globally acclaimed and has clinched 11 Oscar nods!
