Murder accused sent to five-day police custody in Coimbatore

COIMBATORE: The city police on Friday took M Sanjay Raja, 31, of Sivanandapuram near Saravanampatti, prime accused in the murder of R Sathyapandi, into custody for five days..
Sathyapandi, 31, a native of Arapalayam in Madurai, was a Pappanaickenpalayam-based realtor. According to police, he was involved in the murder of Hindu Munnani supporter C Biju, 31, of Ram Nagar, on September 12, 2020.
On February 12, 2023, a five-member armed gang chased Sathyapandi and hacked him to death. He was also shot twice. On February 15, four people surrendered before the Arakkonam court. Police later arrested a motorcycle mechanic for helping the murderers hide their weapons. Sanjay Raja had surrendered before the Egmore court a few days ago.Police plan to seize two Chinese-made pistols from Raja, one of which was used to kill Sathyapandi. TNN
