BJP leader Prashant Umrao booked for spreading false reports about killing of Bihar migrant workers in Tamil Nadu
Prashant Umrao is the BJP spokesperson of the Uttar Pradesh unit who tweeted about 12 Bihari migrant workers being hung to death in Tamil Nadu for speaking in Hindi.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Prashant Umrao was booked for spreading false reports about the alleged killing of Bihar migrant workers in Tamil Nadu on Twitter.
Reports said the police have also booked the editor of a newspaper and owner of a local daily for spreading enmity on social media. Additionally, a police team is also set up to arrest the accused persons.
Prashant Umrao is the BJP spokesperson of the Uttar Pradesh unit who tweeted about 12 Bihari migrant workers being hung to death in Tamil Nadu for speaking in Hindi. Along with the tweet, Umrao also shared the picture of Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister ML Stalin and said despite the attack on the migrants, Yadav attended the birthday celebrations of CM Stalin. The tweet was deleted later.
The Tamil Nadu Police have now charged the BJP spokesperson for sparking enmity between the people based on region and language and also filed a case against the editor of Dainik Bhaskar and the local daily Tanvir Post for putting forth enmity and provoking riots.
The police also said Dainik Bhaskar showed the murder of a Bihar man by a Jharkhand man as an attack on north Indian workers.
Following several fake messages being shared on WhatsApp about the same, Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin issued a statement and assured the safety of migrant workers in the state. Reports also said district collectors in Tamil Nadu issued appeals in Hindi and asked migrant workers not to be worried or scared.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday decided to send a team of senior government officials to Tamil Nadu and look into the matter. CM MK Stalin spoke to CM Nitish Kumar on Saturday over the matter and promised strict action if something like the claims happened in the state.
