IRCTC tatkal rail ticket: Official website, app face outage; passengers fail to book tickets

The Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation’s (IRCTC) online services on Saturday are facing an outage on both their website and mobile application following which passengers are failing to book their tickets.

Passengers shared their ordeals on social media and expressed their concern over the matter. It was observed that the users faced an error on the IRCTC portal while booking their tickers via the Tatkal service.

Given the festive season, Indian Railways are almost fully booked and many with non-confirmed train tickets opt for the Tatkal service.

Tatkal bookings are immediate bookings done only two days prior to the journey date. The bookings open online from 10:00 hours for AC classes (2A/3A/CC/EC/3E) and at 11:00 hours for Non- AC classes (SL/FC/2S). On Saturday, when citizens were trying to book their tickets and avail the Tatkal booking service, they faced an error on the portal which made them rant over the case.

How to book Tatkal tickets?

  • Step 1: Visit the official website of IRCTC, www.irctc.co.in or download the IRCTC mobile application.
  • Step 2: Set up your account by registering your mobile number and email ID.
  • Step 3: Go to the My Profile Section and click on it.
  • Step 4: Fill in details like name, gender, age, birth preference, food preferences, and other details.
  • Step 5: Click on Add passenger.
  • Step 6: Select the date and click on submit.
  • Step 7: After submitting the travel information, select the train you want for your journey.
  • Step 8: Click on Tatkal or Premium Tatkal as per your preference.
  • Step 9: Click on Instant and choose one of the coaches you wish to travel with.
  • Step 10: Book your seat, once the Tatkal booking starts.

Meanwhile, Indian Railways on March 4 cancelled more than 250 trains due to maintenance-related work on the railway platforms, tracks and over bridges. As per the IRCTC reports, 90 trains have also been partially cancelled.

BJP leader Prashant Umrao booked for spreading false reports about killing of Bihar migrant workers in Tamil Nadu

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Prashant Umrao was booked for spreading false reports about the alleged killing of Bihar migrant workers in Tamil Nadu on Twitter.

Reports said the police have also booked the editor of a newspaper and owner of a local daily for spreading enmity on social media. Additionally, a police team is also set up to arrest the accused persons.

Prashant Umrao is the BJP spokesperson of the Uttar Pradesh unit who tweeted about 12 Bihari migrant workers being hung to death in Tamil Nadu for speaking in Hindi. Along with the tweet, Umrao also shared the picture of Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister ML Stalin and said despite the attack on the migrants, Yadav attended the birthday celebrations of CM Stalin. The tweet was deleted later.

The Tamil Nadu Police have now charged the BJP spokesperson for sparking enmity between the people based on region and language and also filed a case against the editor of Dainik Bhaskar and the local daily Tanvir Post for putting forth enmity and provoking riots.

The police also said Dainik Bhaskar showed the murder of a Bihar man by a Jharkhand man as an attack on north Indian workers.

Following several fake messages being shared on WhatsApp about the same, Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin issued a statement and assured the safety of migrant workers in the state. Reports also said district collectors in Tamil Nadu issued appeals in Hindi and asked migrant workers not to be worried or scared.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday decided to send a team of senior government officials to Tamil Nadu and look into the matter. CM MK Stalin spoke to CM Nitish Kumar on Saturday over the matter and promised strict action if something like the claims happened in the state.

Mathura residents confront policemen over beating up of two men, video viral | Watch

After the video of the incident went viral on social media, the Mathura Police took cognizance of the video and informed that the police have launched an inquiry into the matter and will take necessary actions in the matter.

A video has come to light from Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura where 2 police personnel were seen beating up 2 men in a local area. As per the reports, the incident is reported to come under the jurisdiction of the Vrindavan police station area.

In the video, a policeman can be seen talking to a man in black and then dragging him away from the crowd. Upon seeing the man getting beaten up by the policemen, his friend can be seen jumping in to question the police action. The policemen, unfazed by the law and order protocol, can be seen beating both men for questioning them.

The video also shows one man also dropping to the ground after the police brutally slapped the two men. On seeing the policemen’s actions, the residents in the area couldn’t contain themselves and rushed in to question the police. The victims can also be seen getting up and lashing out at the police as they go on to grab a policeman by his color.

Another incident

Another incident came to light from Uttar Pradesh Kanpur where a man was seen brutally beating up a woman over some trivial spat between the two. As per reports, the incident ensued under the jurisdiction of Shivrajpur police station and the woman has also filed a complaint in the matter.

In the video, a man wearing a red vest was seen grabbing the lady in a very inappropriate manner and pushing her to the ground. As the clip moves further, it shows him punching the victim, and kicking her.

Co-Founder of Microsoft Bill Gates met with Narendra Modi during his India visit on Friday. As per the reports, Gates interacted with the Prime Minister and discussed and praised the work that India is doing in the health sector as well as in the climate change area. He also talked about India’s G20 presidency.

As per the Gates-notes, Bill Gates’s official blog, The Co-founder of Microsoft lauded the country’s work for the ability to manufacture a mass of safe, effective, and affordable vaccines and highlighted that the vaccines saved millions of lives during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bill Gates’s blog also added that aside from the ability to manufacture life-saving tools, India also leads in delivering life-saving tools and cited how India was able to manufacture and deliver 2.2 billion doses of COVID vaccines through Co-Win. The blog also wrote and added that he aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision that suggests that the Co-Win model can also be used in the world.

The Microsoft Co-founder also lauded India for facilitating digital payments during the pandemic and added how it helped people receive emergency digital payments. Gates in his blog said that such a thing was only possible due to India prioritizing financial inclusion and investing in a digital ID system and allowing and creating platforms for digital banking.

He further termed India’s efforts to facilitate digital banking to be a fantastic investment.

Aside from that, the co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation also commended India’s Gati Shakti program and called it a perfect example that shows how digital technology works can assist Governments to improve their work. Gates in his blog also highlighted how Gati Shakti digitally connects 16 ministries and helps coordinate and integrate to come up with infrastructure–related projects.

The Co-founder of Microsoft also noted how Gati Shakti aid scientists and engineers and make their job easier.

Gates also talked about India’s presidency at G20 and called it to be an opportunity for India to bring light to how innovations in the country can do the same benefit the world and urge others to adopt them as well.

In his closing remarks, Gates wrote that he is more optimistic than ever about the development that the country is making in health, development, and climate. He further added and said that the country is an example of what happens when a country invests in innovation. He concluded his blog by wishing India to continue down the path of progress and further hoped for the country to spread the word of innovation to the world.
