First-aid training programme held for autorickshaw drivers in Coimbatore
80 autorickshaw drivers participated in the training session
COIMBATORE: The city traffic police launched a first aid training programme for passenger autorickshaw drivers at the police commissionerate on Friday.
More than 80 autorickshaw drivers participated in the training session. Police expect 5,000 autorickshaw drivers to attend the programme.
Chairman of First Heart Foundation Network Dr K Saravanan and team members Giridhar, Usha Nandhini, Lakshmanan, Vinayakamurthy and Samyuktha conducted the training session. The drivers were taught about the difference between cardiac arrest and heart attack, and trained to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) effectively.
“If any motorist is met with an accident, the rescuers should handle them carefully. They would have sustained injuries on spinal cord and cervical areas. There are specific methods to shift them to ambulances from the road,” said Saravanan.
