BJP moves adjournment motion on Kota suicides
Jaipur: BJP state president Satish Poonia moved an adjournment motion under Rule 50 of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly’s Rules on Procedure and Conduct of Business regarding the situation arising out of the increasing number of suicides by coaching students in Kota.
“Kota is a hub for coaching institutes and if you look at the figures of the last four years, it is shocking and a matter of concern for the whole state. In the Kota division alone, 55 children have died by suicide over the last four years and in 2022, 16 children ended their lives. The state should have a robust counselling system for students to destress them and provide them with much-needed relief. The state government should make serious efforts to prevent this,” said Poonia.
He advised the Gehlot government to bring a law to regulate the coaching institutes.
