Thiruvananthapuram: Reacting to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement that the
BJP would eventually form a government in
Kerala too, chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday said the PM was wishing for too much.
“People in this state are fully aware of the ordeals that minorities undergo. The minorities that face severe oppression from Sangh Parivar cannot take a pro-BJP approach. It will be a huge mistake if anybody misreads the adjustments by some people as the
common character of minorities,” said Vijayan, adding that the days ahead would witness the Kerala-model secularism taking root across the country.
Opposition leader V D Satheesan also said BJP has no role to play in Kerala and accused CPM of giving tacit support to BJP for creating a political
space in Kerala as part of its strategy to weaken the Congress-led opposition. CPM and BJP were playing adjustment politics for their vested interests, he added.
However, BJP state president K Surendran said CPM and Congress leaders in the state were once again trying to play the communal card by trying to spread the false message that BJP was anti-minority. “But such canards would no longer find takers in Kerala and BJP would work hard to realise PM Narendra Modi’s wish that BJP will form a government in Kerala in the near future,” he said.
