MC seals property, snaps water connections

Ludhiana: Cracking the whip on defaulters who failed to pay property tax and water-sewer charges, the Ludhiana municipal corporation (MC) sealed a commercial property and snapped two sewerage connections. The civic body teams also recovered over Rs 8.6 lakh from other defaulters, who chose to pay the pending taxes on the spot.
A team led by SDO (Zone B) Amritpal Singh snapped two sewer connections on Guru Arjun Dev Nagar road as the owners failed to pay the water-sewer user charges. The team recovered Rs 1.1 lakh from five other defaulters.
The other team led by superintendent (zone B) Harminder Singh recovered around Rs 2.5 lakh from three defaulters, who chose to pay the property tax on the spot. An MC zone C team sealed a commercial property on 33 feet road in Giaspura after the owner failed to pay the pending tax. tnn
