Ghaziabad plot of jailed SP MLA Irfan Solanki seized in Kanpur

KANPUR: The Kanpur Commissionerate police on Friday seized land worth Rs 5 crore of jailed Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA Irfan Solanki in Ghaziabad.
Solanki is a legislator from Sisamau assembly of Kanpur Nagar. According to the Kanpur police, the MLA had bought this 300 square meters of land in the year 2015.
After invoking the Gangster Act against the MLA lodged in Maharajganj Jail, the police are in the process of confiscating his properties allegedly amassed through illegal means. In the same line, the police will confiscate the MLA’s flat in Greater Noida’s Express View Apartment.
For this, a five-member team, including inspector Sunil Kumar, sub-inspector Vivek Sharma, a head constable and two constables, was sent to Ghaziabad on Thursday evening.
Inspector Sunil Kumar said, “The plot of Irfan Solanki, which is 300 square meters and worth Rs 5 crore, has been confiscated. Today’s seizure has also been made under the Gangster Act. A flat in Greater Noida, which is in the name of the MLA and his wife, will now be seized.”
To recall, in an attempt to grab the plot of a woman, Nazir Fatima, in Jajmau Defence Colony of Kanpur Nagar, the MLA and his aides had allegedly set afire her house built on the plot on December 7, 2022. A case was registered against an unknown man while naming the MLA and his brother Rizwan Solanki. Later, the police had also invoked the Uttar Pradesh Gangsters Act against Irfan Solanki and his brother Rizwan Solanki on December 26 last.
In the case lodged at the Jajmau police station under crime no: 156/22 and Section 3 (1) Uttar Pradesh Gangster Act and Prevention of Anti-Social Activities Act 1986, Irfan Solanki, his brother Rizwan Solanki, Israel Atte Wala, Mohammad Sharif and Shaukat Ali, were made accused.
