BHUBANESWAR: The annual Higher Secondary or Plus II examination started at 1,145 centres across Odisha on Wednesday amid complaints of fake question paper going viral on different social media platforms. The council of higher secondary education (CHSE) lodged a complaint at the cyber police station.
"Students are appearing in the examinations without any fear. Question papers that were kept in the question hubs reached the examination centres safely. Some unscrupulous people have circulated fake question papers to create chaos among students and to dupe them. I request the students not to get distracted," said school and mass education minister Samir Ranjan Dash.
Students of science stream appeared for Mother Indian Language (MIL) Odia paper on Wednesday. Students are appearing for 100% of the syllabus after two years of the pandemic.
This batch of students had not appeared for the Class X board examination in 2021 due to the pandemic. This is their first board examination. With physical classes resuming from the beginning of the academic session, the lessons have been completed and children are well prepared for the examinations,” said Urmila Das, principal of Rama Devi Higher Secondary School, Bhubaneswar.
Tight security arrangements have been made around the examination halls with all centres being brought under CCTV surveillance and a three-tier squad system has been put in place for a fair examination. Controller of examination, CHSE, Ashok Kumar Nayak said, “The question papers doing the rounds on social media are fake.
Students shouldn’t believe those. Besides, some people would target gullible students and fleece them promising more marks in certain subjects.”
In the wake of rumours on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms about paper leak or claims to have access to question papers of 2023 examinations, the CBSE alerted people against such unverified news and rumours during the ongoing examinations and requested them not to participate in such activities or spread the information through any form of communication.
