'Only Supreme Court can save the country': West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee on EC verdict

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday welcomed the Supreme Court's ruling on the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner and elections commissioners by the President. The SC said the EC officials will be appointed by the President on the advise of a committee comprising the prime minister, leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha and the Chief Justice of India. "Only the Supreme Court can protect our democracy, our democratic rights and save our country," the West Bengal chief minister said.
