Home guards only volunteers, can’t be regularised: Min Gudha
Jaipur: Home guards can’t be regularised as they work only as volunteers, said minister Rajendra Gudha.
He said they can’t be covered under the Contract Employees Act either.
“There is no provision for the regularisation of home guards under Section 2 of the Home Guards Act, 1963. There is no proposal under consideration to give ESI, PF, DA (Dearness Allowance) to home guard volunteers. Free medical services are being provided to home guard volunteers like any other ordinary citizens under Chief Minister Chiranjeevi Swasthya Bima Yojana,” he said.
The minister told Congress MLA Panachand Meghwal that his question itself is wrong.
In response to the supplementary question asked by the member in this regard during the Question Hour, Gudha clarified that at present no proposal to regularise the home guards is under consideration.
Earlier, the minister in a written reply to the question of Meghwal, said that no announcement has been made in the budget to recruit 12,000 home guards. “Home guard volunteers are not recruited, they are nominated. Eight hundred fifty-one home guards have been enrolled in the last four years. This has also happened in 2022. Earlier, no nomination has been done in 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021.”
