Kanpur: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Kanpur Dehat incident wherein a mother-daughter duo died of burns during an eviction drive on February 13, has been given more time from the government. After the incident, SIT was constituted by the government. Sources informed that the SIT however could not collect all the evidence within the stipulated time. Therefore, the government has given them one week time, sources said and added, “SIT will collect scientific and electronic evidence in collaboration with the team of Forensic Science Laboratory.” On February 13, the police and administration had gone to remove encroachments in Madauli village of Maitha block of Kanpur Dehat. During the drive, a mother-daughter duo was burnt alive in a blaze. In this case, on the complaint of the family, an FIR was registered against more than 39 people, including SDM, qanungo and four lekhpals. tnn
