Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday ordered that the entry fee for all museums in the state will not cross Rs 10 a person. No fee will be charged from students, artists and weavers, Naveen said.
“Odisha is the land of art. Our art and culture have created a special identity across the world. For promotion and conservation of our rich heritage, museums play a very important role.
To create an awareness about our art, culture and tradition among the general public, particularly among the youngsters, the entry fee of any museum of the state should not cross more than Rs 10 for each person,” said Naveen. The chief minister also spoke about steps to be taken to make the museums more popular and attract more visitors.
The State Museum, Kala Bhoomi and the Tribal Culture and Research Museum are located in Bhubaneswar while the Maritime Museum is in Cuttack. Besides, there are many museums in different districts attracting a large number of visitors every year. Culture activists said there are many museums in districts which are facing neglect.
