Elaborate security in place for G20 in Ranchi
An Indian delegate arrives for the G20 Summit in Ranchi on Wednesday
RANCHI: The Ranchi police has made arrangements to provide round-the-clock and comprehensive security cover to the visiting G20 delegates in the state capital. The meeting venue and the routes of the delegates have been divided into zones and sectors for deployment of magistrates and senior police officers.
Superintendent of police and deputy superintendent of police have been deputed here from different parts of the state.
The police are maintaining continuous vigil around the Birsa Munda International Airport, which is zone 1. Intensive patrolling is being carried out within five kilometers of the airport. The police are keeping a close watch on the buildings, bridges, and culverts falling on the routes of the VIPs.
Senior officers have instructed that gathering of crowd at the entrance of the airport and along the approach roads must be prevented.
Instruction has also been issued to remove meat shops and carcass of animals around the airport so that birds do not flock the area to pose a threat to the flights.
Radisson Blu, which is the meeting venue, has been divided into two sectors and police personnel have been posted at around three dozen places, including entrance and exit, parking, lifts and the highrise buildings located around the hotel. Plain-clothed police personnel are deployed inside the hotel.
The district administration has declared 500 metres around the Radisson Blu and Hotel Chanakya where the visitors are staying as the no-fly zone. Drones, para-gliding and hot air balloons would be barred in these areas.
The movement routes of the VIPs in the state capital and from the city to Patratu Dam have been divided into eight sectors. Police personnel would be deployed in over 150 place. Quick reaction teams would also be posted and safe houses have been selected for emergency situation.
Ranchi SSP Kishor Kaushal said, “Each delegate would be provided three-layered protection. Officers and policemen found lax during inspection would face strict action under various rules.”
