As per reports, the 21 year old was training for the upcoming state level bodybuilding championship when he had bread at a break during the workout session.
He was a contestant in the under 70 kilo category. During the accident he was working out at 8pm.

When the person around you, especially when you are having food together, suddenly finds it difficult to breathe then you need to act smart and understand that he or she has choked over food.
The person may gasp for breath, get motionless after a few seconds, will have noisy breathing and may turn pale. The person can't speak, cough or breathe due to choking.
If you see someone lying unconscious, then do not rule out the chances of choking.

Abdominal thrusts or Heimlich maneuver should be done when the person is choking.
Here you have to bend over the person's waist and give strikes or blows with your hand between the shoulder blades of the person. This should be enough to throw out the choked food from the system.

Do not ask them about anything. You might be putting extra burden on them to answer your queries when they are in a critical situation
Be gentle while doing Heimlich maneuver, giving big thrusts can break the ribs
Do not put your fingers in the person's mouth
Do not turn the child upside down when they have choked

There is no such food or object with which only people get choked. Choking can happen due to careless eating, not chewing food properly or trying to eat fast.
Usually kids choke on candies, erasers, small toys, big chunks of fruits, cherry tomatoes, whole grapes, peanuts and many other small, round shaped objects which easily fit in their mouth.
