Calling Youth To ‘Arise-Go-Serve’ At Salesian Youth Day 2023

Youth from Salesian houses across Goa, Karnataka, and Maharashtra came together this Sunday, February 19, at Don Bosco Animation Centre, Benaulim, to celebrate 'Arise-Go-Serve', the Youth Day of the Panaji-Konkan Province. The event will see a mix of interactive sessions, ice-breakers, and team-building activities, with over 250 youth representatives in attendance.
The Youth Day is an annual feature of the Salesians of the Panaji-Konkan Province for over 18 years. However, due to the pandemic, the event is back again after a three-year gap. It is a gathering of young people belonging to the 18 institutes of the Province, and a culmination of the various youth programmes taking place at these individual institutes as well as the chief regions of Goa, Maharashtra, and Karnataka.
Fr Jason Coelho sdb, Director of the Don Bosco Youth Services of the Province of Panaji (DBYS-INP), said, “Celebrating the Salesian Youth Movement of the Panaji province is a gift and grace. Pope Francis gives a clarion call to young people to Arise! Young people are called to help one another to ‘arise together’, bear witness, and become prophets of a new, hope-filled future.”
The day's programme will animate the young on the theme of ‘Arise-Go-Serve’, a theme that seems to be the clarion call from society, the church, and the world at large.
The youth of this province form a part of the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM), an international forum for the young belonging to the worldwide congregation of the Salesians of Don Bosco. They are also in preparation to participate in World Youth Day 2023, taking place in Lisbon, Portugal.
This Province Youth Day is by the youth, for the youth, and of the youth. And as Don Bosco said, 'That you are young is enough to make me love you very much'.
