WPL 2023: Meg Lanning to captain Delhi Capitals, Jemimah Rodrigues named deputy

The Australian captain has been part of as many as six World Cup-winning campaigns - four T20 World Cup titles and two World Cup titles.

Australia’s World Cup-winning captain Meg Lanning has been named the captain of Delhi Capitals for the inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League, while Jemimah Rodrigues has been named her deputy.

The Capitals begins its campaign against Royal Challengers Bangalore on March 5 and ahead of the tournament, Lanning admitted that the tournament is a massive moment for the sport.

“We have got some great depth in our squad,” she said at an event on Thursday.

Fondly referred to as the ‘Megastar’, Lanning is arguably one of the most successful cricketers in the history of women’s cricket.
