GURGAON: The 39 foreign delegates in the city to participate in a four-day meeting on the G20 anti-corruption working group started their day with a yoga session on Wednesday.
The state government has arranged for trained instructors from Haryana Yoga Commission to teach the delegates asanas at the respective hotels where they are staying.
The state government has also installed a stall at the meeting venue—Hotel Leela—to promote the state art and culture. From the stall promoting art and culture, the delegates received leaflets with information about the places they could personally visit, according to a selection made by the Authority.
These include Museo Camera in Sushant Lok, Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary, Pratapgarh Farms in Jhajjar, Transport Museum in Tauru and other historical areas. All delegates received video content with relevant details on these places to help them choose.
Officials will facilitate and manage the logistics of their travel to these places whenever desired.
The delegates are from 20 member countries of G20 and 10 countries invited to join the meetings this year, and nine of them are representatives of international organisations.
On Wednesday night, the state will host a dinner for the delegates, treating them with food prepared from millet grains, whose consumption and production the country has been promoting.
On Wednesday morning, during the session, “Leveraging information technology for combating corruption in the public sector”, V Umashankar, principal secretary to the chief minister, gave a presentation on direct benefit transfer (DBT), which takes the help of technology and has no human interference.
He said that for residents, the state government introduced Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP), which considers the entire family as a single unit and allows for continuous data updation with the addition of eligible beneficiaries.
He added that residents could benefit now from different government schemes without applying for or visiting government offices.
Praising Haryana for using technology effectively, Union minister Jitender Singh said the state introduced several digital reforms to ensure better governance. He said that in the tenure of chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Haryana saw many successful experiments towards good governance, with other states then implementing those programmes.
On Thursday, the delegates will attend three sessions —“strengthening law enforcement cooperation for action against corruption and related economic crimes” with the director of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Subodh Kumar Jaiswal, as the keynote speaker; “mutual legal assistance” with Union home secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla as the keynote speaker; “promoting integrity and effectiveness of public bodies responsible for preventing and combating corruption” with central vigilance commissioner, Praveen Kumar Srivastava, as the keynote speaker.
