Margao: Chief minister Pramod Sawant said that the election results of the three northeastern states have shown that BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have “acceptability” across the country, even in minority-dominated states, thus belying media projections.
“There was a lot of development done in the northeastern states. The results have shown that people vote for development and not on the basis of caste or religion,” Sawant said. “This is the beginning of 2024. I am confident that BJP will cross the figure of 302 seats in 2024 and touch the 400 mark and return to (office) with a clear majority.”
Saying that there was negative propaganda that BJP wasn’t capable of returning to office in minority-dominated states, Sawant said that this victory proved its adversaries wrong.
“Even in states with 90% minority population, people have realised that for the sake of development, the double-engine government must be brought in,” he said.
