BENGALURU: The government on Wednesday issued an order to facilitate transfer of students from one college to another at the beginning of odd semesters, as envisaged by the National Education Policy.
Students who wish to change from one affiliated college to another within the same university or different one can make use of this opportunity. In both the cases, failed subjects of the student will be shifted to the new college.
CN Ashwath Narayan, minister for higher education, said students will be provided the transfer through UUCMS (Unified University and College Management System) platform at the beginning of the academic year itself which is applicable for odd semesters (1, 3, 5 or 7).
The universities have also been instructed to provide multi-entry and multi-exit options for students. As per this facility, students who complete two semesters should be given a certificate. Those who complete four semesters should be given a diploma. After completion of six semesters, students must be given the graduation certificate and post the completion of eight semesters, they will be given the graduation (honours) certificate.
Those who exit the course in the middle can get readmitted within seven years (from the date of admission for first semester) and pursue further studies. The credit points attained by the students will be added to 'academic bank of credits' and will be considered while giving the respective certificate.
