Nobody is having a better spring training than New York Mets infielder Ronny Mauricio. The young slugger has three home runs in just seven at-bats. He's hitting .429 with five RBIs and a 2.214 OPS.

Mauricio is a name that can get lost in an impressive farm system. The rise of Brett Baty and Francisco Alvarez has been the talk around the organization in recent years.

All eyes are on Mauricio now, as he has the fanbase going nuts. If he keeps this up, there's no way the Mets can keep him off the opening day roster.

As a shortstop, he doesn't have the greatest of gloves. If he gets called up, fans will likely see him get some action at third base. It could be a battle between Brett Baty and Ronny Mauricio.

"He better be on the Opening Day roster," another fan tweeted.
@SNY_Mets He better be on the opening day roster
@SNY_Mets Pace yourself, Ronny. It's the 162+ games from April-Oct that we'll need this type of production! #LFGM!!!
@SNY_Mets This kid is 6’3” tall and only 21. He is still a long ways from physically filling out. He’s gonna be a beast. He keeps this up and the Mets won’t be able to justify keeping him in the minors. Do like the Braves and let your pups play. He’s the real deal.

Mauricio was the Dominican Winter League MVP this season, so you can't say he's just off to a hot start. Don't be surprised if he keeps this up all spring training.

@SNY_Mets Need him and his power with the Mets not AAA.
@SNY_Mets This guy is the hidden gem. We need him in the lineup opening day.
@SNY_Mets The kid is making the case to stay with the big club.If he continues this way, what can the Mets get for Vogelbach on the free market???
@SNY_Mets So proud of this kid!! He’s having a great start!!

We'll have to wait to see if Mauricio makes the opening day roster. If he keeps going in the direction he is now, the Mets will have no choice but to call him up.

Are the New York Mets the favorites in the National League East?

The New York Mets made a flurry of moves this offseason. Their biggest move was signing reigning American League Cy Young award winner Justin Verlander. He's going to be dominant alongside Max Scherzer. They didn't stop there, as they also signed Kodai Senga and Jose Quintana. It's going to be tough for opposing batters to score runs off this starting staff.

They upgraded their bullpen in the winter as well. They signed Adam Ottavino and David Robertson. The Mets also re-signed Edwin Diaz, who is one of the best closers in all of baseball.

While they made a ton of moves in the offseason, so did other teams in their division. The Philadelphia Phillies will be a much better team with the addition of Trea Turner. It wouldn't be surprising if this division came down to another tiebreaker like it did last season. The NL East is going to be one division fans will want to keep an eye on.
