Fake education certificates racket busted, gang of 7 held in Telangana

HYDERABAD: Task Force sleuths on Tuesday busted a gang which was allegedly preparing fake education certificates and arrested seven members, who would target gullible persons wanting to go abroad for higher studies. Prime accused Sunil Kapoor from Delhi, however, is at large, police said. Among the accused was a B Tech graduate.
Sunil Kapoor allegedly prepared educational certificates of SSC, Intermediate from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, graducation and post graduation courses certificates from various universities of Telangana, AP, Rajasthan, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, police said.
Mohammed Habeeb, who completed his engineering from a private college in Chevella, Abdul Rauf, Mohammed Irfan, Mohammed Zubair, Salman Khan and Mohammed Abdul Sattar were associated with various education consultant businesses in the city and agents likes Shanawaz Khan. All these seven accused were arrested.
"Habeeb is a resident of Bazarghat. After completion of B Tech, he joined a education consultancy in Tolichowki as an administrator. At that time, he met Sunil Kapoor and became close friends. They hatched a plan to manufacture fake educational certificates and supply them to aspirants who want to go abroad for further studies but do not have requiste certificates," deputy commissioner of police (Task Force) G Chakravarthy said.
Police said that they were yet to find out how the seized certificates were prepared by Sunil Kapoor since he is at large. They suspect that the certificates were prepared using scanning machines. Habeeb in the past was arrested by Bahadurpura and Saroornagar police for supplying fake certificates.
After coming out on bail, he joined hands with other consultants and agents and started to supply fake certificates by identifying those in need of them.
