NEW DELHI: A woman from Myanmar has alleged that she was abducted, drugged and sexually assaulted by four men in southeast Delhi's Kalindi Kunj on February 22. DCW has sent a notice to Delhi Police.
The woman told cops that she was abducted and drugged in an auto. She was then taken to a room where she was sexually assaulted.
Cops have registered a case under gangrape, kidnapping, and other sections of IPC. So far, no one has been arrested.
An officer said the incident took place on February 22 and she informed them about the incident on February 26.
The woman claimed that she is a registered refugee from Myanmar, and on the day of the incident, she, along with her husband and minor daughter, had gone to the southeast Delhi area for treatment of her daughter. Her husband went to relieve himself, leaving the woman and child near a metro station.
She was abducted by an auto driver. He allegedly took her to an isolated location where she was allegedly gang-raped. Later, the suspects left her on the road with the child. "The child was not harmed. The woman was sent for medical examination," the officer said, adding that the complainant was unable to identify the place where she was assaulted.
Police said no PCR call was made about the incident.
Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has taken suo motu cognisance of the incident and issued a notice to Delhi Police. DCW chairperson Swati Maliwal has asked the police to provide an FIR copy of the case to the commission. She has also asked the police to provide details of the accused.
"If the accused have not been arrested, please inform the steps taken by Delhi Police to arrest the accused persons," DCW stated in its notice to the police. The commission has given the police time till March 3 to provide details of the case to it.
