Stock market update: Power stocks up as market rises

NEW DELHI: Power shares closed higher in the Wednesday's session.

Inox Wind Energy(up 8.56%), Suzlon Energy-Partly Pd up Right Is(up 5.77%), ADANIGREEN(up 5.00%), Adani Transmissions(up 4.99%), PTC India(up 4.99%), Karma Energy(up 4.99%), Adani Power(up 4.99%), Alstom T&D India(up 4.87%), Indowind Energy(up 4.85%) and Inox wind(up 4.67%) stood among the top gainers.

Power Grid Corporation of India(down 1.51%), Indo Tech Transformers(down 1.13%), KPI Green Energy(down 0.47%), DPSC(down 0.42%), JSW Energy(down 0.40%) and Hitachi Energy India(down 0.20%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 146.95 points up at 17450.9, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 448.96 points at 59411.08.

Adani Enterprises(up 14.7%), Hindalco Industries(up 3.47%), UPL Ltd(up 2.75%), State Bank of India(up 2.66%), Axis Bank(up 2.49%), Tech Mahindra(up 2.42%), Tata Consultancy(up 2.2%), HCL Technologies(up 2.18%), IndusInd Bank(up 2.11%) and Bajaj Auto(up 1.92%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Britannia Industries(down 1.84%), Power Grid Corporation of India(down 1.51%), Cipla(down 0.75%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation(down 0.46%), SBI Life(down 0.25%), HDFC Bank(down 0.1%) and TATA CONSUMER PRODUCTS(down 0.01%) closed in the red.
